Biotechnology
Characteristic
It is a multidisciplinary field of study – it combines issues from several fields, both natural and technical. Classes are conducted by lecturers from various Institutes of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. Some subjects are taught by two or even three academic teachers, which enriches the content of the issues presented.
The study program includes:
ENGINEERING STUDIES: cell biology, organic chemistry, genetics, plant, animal and microbial physiology, genetic engineering, cell and tissue cultures, biophysics, general microbiology, plants, veterinary, reproductive immunology, design in AutoCAD.
MA STUDIES: statistics and experimentation, functional and structural genomics, biosensors, control and analysis of biotechnological processes, bioethics, genetic improvement of plants, selected issues in molecular biology of plants, genetic improvement of animals, biotechnology of gametes and embryos, methods of microbiological diagnostics of food, starter cultures in food industry, chemistry of natural compounds, basics of pharmacology and pharmacy, molecular evolution, the use of biotechnology in the diagnosis of animal diseases, food additives.
Depending on the level of studies, students can broaden their knowledge of the following topics:
- biotechnology in the production and protection of animal health,
- biotechnology in plant production,
- biotechnology in the food industry.
Career prospects
After this direction, you can work in:
- units of industrial research and development facilities
- biotechnology and related fields,
- research, control and diagnostic laboratories,
