Arrangement of plants in the usable space
Subjects and issues carried out in the form of lectures and exercises:
- The influence of plants on the quality of life (covers the following topics: social
and the therapeutic role of gardening, garden therapy, elements of environmental psychology, arranging gardens adapted to the needs of disabled people) (15 hours of lectures) - The use of plants for interior decoration (issues: arrangement rules and plant arrangements in residential interiors, forms of displaying plants in interiors, review of species and requirements and care of potted plants, interior plant decorations – the latest trends, winter gardens – arrangement and selection of plants. Sightseeing: greenhouse collections, florist, flower market, office building) (20 hours of lectures + 30 hours of exercises)
- Selection and arrangement of plants in the garden (issues: types of gardens and garden styles, review of species and varieties of perennial herbaceous plants, cultivation requirements of garden plants, care and protection against diseases and pests, the use of herbaceous and woody plants in the garden (flowerbeds, alpine plants, gardens
and rock walls, gardens and ponds, moorland gardens, naturalistic gardens, the use of trees, shrubs and creepers in the garden. Sightseeing: collections, Botanical Garden, nurseries of ornamental shrubs) (30 hours of lectures + 30 hours of exercises) - Principles of designing and composing plant arrangements (issues: compositional principles of plant selection, basic principles of planting plan implementation, designing with the use of techniques and computer programs) (10 hours of lectures + 15 hours of exercises)
- Plants in urban space (issues: functions of vegetation in the city, review of plant species and varieties used in urban greenery, forms of plant use in urban space, seasonal flowerbeds, “green roofs”) (10 hours of lectures + 10 hours of exercises)
- Diploma seminar (issues: presentation of own, correct solutions for plant arrangements in gardens or public interiors, preparation for the implementation of final projects) (10 hours of exercise)
Passing:
1. Written exam (test form)
2. Thesis: development of assumptions for the design of a selected planting.
